Maggie Cassella is an American-Canadian comedian, actress, writer, and producer originally from Hartford, Connecticut, best known for her sharp, conversational stand-up style and her long-running contributions to queer comedy and Canadian television. She first gained wider recognition in Canada as the host of the talk show Because I Said So, and later as the founder and driving force behind the comedy initiative We’re Funny That Way!, which became a major platform for LGBTQ+ comedians and performers across North America. Throughout her career spanning the early 2000s through the 2020s and into 2025–2026, she has worked across live comedy, television specials, and festival programming, including appearances in projects like We’re Funny That Way: The Virtual Pride Special (2020–2021) and other comedy and acting roles such as Max & Shred (2014–2016). In recent years, including 2026, she has continued performing live shows and speaking events, such as her scheduled performance From There to Here in Kingston, Ontario, while remaining an active voice in Canadian comedy and cultural production alongside platforms like Just for Laughs.
